Despite the evidence showing that raising the minimum wage is the correct decision for today's society, several citizens continue to disagree. The main argument that opposes raising the minimum wage argues that it would decrease benefits for employees (Goodman). This argument is ruled out by the fact that most minimum wage workers do not receive benefits from their employers in the first place.
Another main argument in opposition of raising the minimum wage is that it will lead to job cuts and higher prices. As far as the point of raising the minimum wage would lead to higher prices, it is important to note that the prices will continue to increase whether or not the minimum wage is raised. In relation to job cuts, there is evidence of this being true. However, this drop is small and therefore must be compared to the benefit of the workers' higher salary (Neumark).
